Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Many extended health plans in British Columbia cover counselling/psychotherapy sessions provided by a RCC, though coverage varies - please check with your insurance provider or employer before booking. Plans vary - some cover a percentage (e.g., 80%), others a flat rate (e.g., $100 per session), and some have annual limits. It’s best to confirm details with your provider directly prior to booking.

After each session, you’ll receive an invoice that includes all required information: my full name, RCC registration number, session date and rate, and service provided, which you can use to submit for reimbursement (if applicable).

Payment is due at the time of the session and will be charged to the card on file. Please note that I do not offer direct billing at this time, including ICBC or CVAP or pacific blue cross.

  • We use the Jane software to process payments. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, as well as Visa Debit & Debit Mastercard. We do not accept e-transfer, cash, or cheque.

Payment is due at the time/day of the appointment and is collected from the card on file.

  • At True Belonging Counselling, I believe that therapy should be accessible to those who need it most. I also acknowledge that systemic inequities - such as racism, ableism, transphobia, classism, and colonization - profoundly shape access to resources and support.

To honour this, I offer a limited number of reduced-rate sessions using the Green Bottle Method, an equity-based sliding scale framework created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk. This model invites thoughtful reflection on both personal and systemic factors that influence financial access, helping us co-create a fee structure that is both equitable and sustainable - for you and for the wider community.

Please take a moment to review the Green Bottle Framework‍ ‍and let me know which tier - Accessible Rate (Mid Bottle) or Deep Support Rate (Low Bottle) - best reflects your current financial position.

I’m committed to providing care that centres equity, dignity, and belonging, and to doing what I can- within my capacity - to make therapy more accessible.

To inquire about availability for reduced-rate sessions, please email: dana@truebelongingcounselling.ca

You can make changes to your appointment directly through your Jane App account, HERE or by emailing dana@truebelongingcounselling.ca (I will use the timestamp on the email to determine whether the email was sent within the 48hr period)

    • Are cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice

    • Are rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice

Missed appointments are charged to the credit card/Visa Debit on file.

Thank you for your understanding - your timely communication helps me offer availability to other clients in need.

  • I work with adults who often feel like outsiders - deep feelers, cycle breakers, and seekers. Many of my clients identify as LGBTQ2S+, are exploring non-traditional relationships, or are navigating the impacts of trauma, identity confusion, or relational wounds. This work his work is for those who long to feel more at home in themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.

You may have already begun your healing journey - through books, podcasts, or past therapy - and now you’re ready to go deeper. This work is for those who long to feel more at home in themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.

  • At True Belonging Counselling, “boutique” means small, intentional, and deeply personalized. Unlike larger clinics with rotating staff or standardized approaches, this practice is rooted in relationship, consistency, and tailored care.

You won’t be passed around or treated like a number. You’ll work directly with one therapist (that’s me), in a warm, non-pathologizing environment that honors your story and your pace. The boutique model allows for greater flexibility, individualized attention, and a strong, ongoing therapeutic relationship - because healing happens in the safety of being truly seen.

This personalized care may also include curated resources just for you - such as reflective exercises, somatic tools, or handpicked videos to support your growth between sessions. Therapy doesn’t just happen in the room - it unfolds in the spaces in between, and I’m here to help you carry the work into your life.

  • Sessions are collaborative, compassionate, and uniquely tailored to you. We typically begin with a brief check-in, then follow what feels most alive - whether it’s a topic you’ve brought in, something we’ve been working on, or a new thread we co-create together.

At True Belonging Counselling, we recognize that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Everyone’s path is different, and sessions are shaped around your pace, preferences, and capacity. Whether we’re talking, working with your body, exploring inner parts, or gently attuning to your nervous system, the space remains the same: grounded, non-judgmental, and deeply respectful.

Sessions may include somatic awareness, nervous system regulation tools, parts work (like IFS), mindfulness, or unpacking core beliefs and emotional patterns. You may also be invited to practice simple tools or reflections between sessions to support integration.

At the heart of it all is relationship - your relationship to yourself, your past, and your present experience. We’re here to support you with insight, clarity, and compassion as you reconnect with the parts of you that long to be seen, heard, and held.

  • Healing doesn’t happen overnight, it unfolds in seasons.

Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions for 8–12 weeks, allowing us to build momentum and safety. In that time we explore your patterns, equip you with new tools and ways of relating, and begin to soften what once felt unchangeable.

By the end of this first chapter, many clients describe a deeper understanding of themselves and a newfound ability to respond to life instead of react to it. From there, sessions often move to bi-weekly or monthly, depending on your goals and needs.

As always, this is your process - if the rhythm or frequency doesn’t feel right, we’ll shape it together in a way that truly supports you.

  • Absolutely. True Belonging Counselling is a welcoming, non-judgmental, and inclusive space that affirms the full spectrum of identities, relationships, and vocations. No need to fit into a box here.

  • I offer trauma-informed, relational, and somatic-based therapy for adults seeking deeper connection and healing.
